WHAT WE DO

We’re dragon boat racers and more! We’re passionate about supporting our ladies and helping them reach their goals or just provide a safe space for them. Through the California Dragon Boat Association, we’ve partnered with businesses and groups to have them paddle in a team-building novice dragon boat race or just paddle in the lake. We also have regular group workouts to keep us in shape and motivated. And on top of that, we’re always looking for ways to give back to the community, so we organize group volunteer days to make a positive impact. 

WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT – CHICKS WHO RIP

Ripple Effect proudly supports female-identifying individuals of all ages, with a focus on building strength, confidence, and community.

Our dedicated crew, Chicks Who Rip, trains and races together with support from coaches and fitness staff who tailor workouts to every level.

Beyond the boat, we host monthly events focused on wellness, leadership, and real talk.

  • Self-defense and mechanic workshops

Looking for a fun, active way to boost team morale and collaboration? Try dragon boat!

Novice dragon boat races offer a unique team-building experience where your group can get outside, try something new, and work toward a shared goal.

Ripple Effect can provide experienced coaches, all necessary gear (paddles and PFDs), and three on-the-water practices to help your team get race-ready. Whether you’re in it to compete or just to connect, your crew will have the chance to race alongside other novice teams in a friendly, high-energy environment.

BEYOND THE BOAT: FITNESS

Our members organize year-round training sessions that help paddlers build strength, endurance, and friendships beyond the water. Many of our athletes have grown stronger, faster, and healthier. They’ve also discovered new hobbies and close-knit connections through our off-water programs.Here’s how we stay active and engaged:

  • Erg training on paddle-adapted machines to improve technique and power

  • Strength and cross-training sessions to boost performance and prevent injuries

  • Outrigger canoe access for solo paddling and extra water time

  • Ripple Run Club, where teammates train for 5Ks and marathons, and find running buddies

  • Mentorship for Youth Team USA hopefuls (18U & 24U), supporting the next generation of elite paddlers

VOLUNTEERING

We love to give back too! Our team organizes volunteer events that bring our paddlers, families, and alumni together to support the wider community. From delivering holiday meals on Christmas morning to serving as parade marshals in San Francisco’s Lunar New Year Parade, we’re proud to show up off the water too.
